Product Description
A buttercup root. The epidermis protects the root from parasites and absorbs water from the soil. Root hairs are epidermal cells that increase the surface area of the root for the absorption of water. The cortex stores food obtained from the phloem. The vascular cylinder contains the conductive tissue cells as well as pericycle. The xylem transports water up to the leaves while the phloem transports sap down to the roots. The pericycle produces new roots.
